The 2016 Entries by Audrey Wancket

Each year. I choose portraits that I had created for clients and enter them into the Professional Photographers International Photographic Competition. I am competing with image makers from across the globe. Choosing only 4 portraits from all that I create each year is not easy. There are so many that I […]

Another quote I love…

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children… to leave the world a better place… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

What words would you use to describe my portrait style?

Today, I am working on the final details for a program that I will be giving in Tupelo, MS next week. I have been asked to speak (teach) at the Annual convention of the Professional Photographers of Mississippi-Alabama. My program is titled “The Beauty and Grace of the Classic Portrait”, by Audrey […]

Inspirations, artist of the week

One of my favorite things about Pinterest and social media in general is in the artistry areas. Because I follow and search different artists, especially ones from times gone by, I am constantly getting emails with “posts I might like”, which I do. I have come across works from some of my […]

Dream Portrait Wish #46

I have had portraits taken by Audrey Wancket in 2003 and 2010.  Recently, my husband Bob has lost weight and I have become a blond.  So we really need a NEW portrait that shows our NEW selves.

Dream Portrait Wish #45

I had my photograph taken by Audrey when I was about 12.  Now, I’m 35!  Those photos are still hanging in my parents home.  My parents guests always admire them!  Not far from where that picture is hanging is another Audrey Wanket portrait that I love–my daughter… Audrey took her picture when she was two weeks old.  I would love to add another picture to our collection.  One with three generations.  My mother, my daughter, and myself.

Dream Portrait Wish #26

I saw the email that came out asking for wish stories and the immediate photo on the right in the email was of my niece and nephew.  They have grown again since the photo was taken.  The family currently displays two photos from Wancket Studios over their fireplaces showing how the kids have grown […]

Dream Portrait Wish #44

Portraits lined the hall of my late grandmothers home.  During the holidays my cousins and I would linger in that hallway and admire them. My favorite was of my mother and three aunts in their youth, all dressed in a different pastel color that was enhanced along with their rouged cheeks. So surreal it is, to find yourself in portraits of your ancestors.
Without realizing it at the time, we spent the last holiday together in my grandmother’s house before she passed this fall. I admired my grandmother more than she will ever know, and long to leave such an impression on this earth. These coveted portraits are now her legacy. Regardless of how many times I have viewed them over the years, they continue to have a strong impact on me, and remain in the heart.
Audrey Wancket’s portraits are just so timeless and heartfelt, true works of art. It would be an absolute dream to have her capture my girls and I and create our legacy to be cherished today and for generations to come as well.

Dream Portrait Wish #43

I have seen and admired portraits captured by Audrey Wancket for years–in friends’ homes and at Dr. George Stankevych’s office.  We have a gorgeous 11 month old Golden Retriever, Sunny, of whom I am training for therapy dog at present.  Sunny is our 4th Golden.  We had always wanted to have a professional portrait done of our […]

Dream Portrait Wish #42

My husband and I were married for almost ten years before we had children. Up until that point, we had 3-4 dogs at any one time. They were our four-legged children. We had several “family photos” taken with our fur babies.
We got legal guardianship of our nephew in 2003 and had our son in 2005. Ironically, we have had very few family portraits done and I have more pictures of my husband and I with our dogs than portraits with our son. We have quick snaps or photos taken at family events and weddings, but nothing of us all together. Other priorities and life just seem to get in the way.
Audrey’s an amazing photographer and having her photograph a portrait of our entire little family (2 and 4-legged) would be a dream. She is just the kind of patient and creative photographer that would be able to capture our family in a timeless portrait.

Dream Portrait Wish #21

I  consider myself lucky to have scheduled an appointment with Audrey Wancket in 2003 when my son and daughter were almost 3 and 5 years old.
I feel like Audrey captured a “sweet spot” in their growing-up years.
Now, don’t get me wrong, we also did photo shoots at the mall, but none of these pictures have […]

Do not Panic!
